Sexual Orientation has been defined as a person’s attraction, whether emotional, psychological and or sexual, to people of the opposite or same gender and includes feelings, behaviour and identity.

Research has shown that a high percentage of people who have sexual orientation issue’s have a strong predisposition to mental instability, high risk behaviour and negative self-image.
Young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and or transgender in this research are:
- At least three times likely to attempt suicide
- Two and a half times more likely to self harm
- Five times more likely to be medicated for depression
- Twenty times more likely to suffer from an eating disorder than their heterosexual counterparts
